Many are grappling with a new reality as the impacts of COVID-19 continue to ripple across all facets of economic and social life. For Haoying Sun, the devastating effects hit close to home long before the global pandemic spread to the United States.
“I moved to the U.S. more than 20 years ago, but my parents still live in China,” she said. “When I read the news of Wuhan being locked down on Jan. 23, I couldn’t believe it.”
An increase in anti-Asian sentiment has been observed and encountered in the UK community and the city of Lexington. If you have experienced or are aware of incidents related to bias or hate crimes against any member of the UK community, please use the information at this link to report the occurrence. There are services on campus to support those who are targeted. I encourage you to speak up when and as you are able to ensure civility in our community.

A group of more than 20 people decided to create handmade masks for healthcare workers and people in the community.
"I have always been sewing, and so when people said they needed masks I just started sewing and then got involved in this," says Olivia Davis.
