University of Kentucky MBA alum, Jonathan Beatty has embarked on a very successful corporate and entrepreneurship career since his graduation from the One Year MBA program at the Gatton College of Business and Economics in 2006. However, Jonathan’s journey began from very humble beginnings growing up.


They say patience is a virtue and for UK MBA alum, Andrew “Drew” Wilder that is certainly an understatement. After graduating from the Engineering/MBA Dual Degree program at the University of Kentucky, Drew started doing what most students do at this point – applying and interviewing for jobs.


  The LINKS Center for Social Network Analysis held it's 11th annual summer workshop, June 4-8, for approximately 150 participants.  The workshop was again successfully organized by Steve Borgatti, with logistics by Scott Soltis and Connie Blakemore and the Exec Ed Center. This year's program included five tracks, evening mini-modules, one-on-one research consultations, and special Friday programs on Education, Communications, Organizations, and Health Care. Evaluations by participants indicated 76% of respondents were “likely” or “very likely” to attend again next year.


The 2018 Department of Marketing & Supply Chain Research and Teaching awards for Faculty and Students were announced this month. Congratulations to the following recipients!

Professor Alexis Allen received the 2018 Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Teaching Award.

Professor Aaron Garvey received the 2018 Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Research Award.  

PhD Candidate Alex Ziegler received the 2018 Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Student Teaching Award.


The Department of Marketing & Supply Chain has further improved their UTD top 50 position for both Worldwide (#41) and North American (#38) research rankings. Congratulations to the Marketing & Supply Chain faculty on their continued productivity!


Assistant Professors, Ben Commerford and Sean Dennis have been awarded a competitive research grant from the Center for Audit Quality. Their project titled, “‘Alexa, Audit Loan Grades’: Enhancing Auditor Reliance on Artificial Intelligence Through Anthropomorphism” will examine issues related to the increasing role of artificial intelligence in the audit setting. UK MBA alum, Teddy Ray is a successful co-owner of the popular North Lime Coffee and Donuts, an eclectic and artsy spot known for its house made specialty donuts and freshest coffee with stores in both Lexington and Louisville Kentucky. Opening in 2012, North Lime provides a fun community atmosphere and works with local coffee roasters to support the local economy with 10% of all profits going towards a local charity or fundraiser.


UK MBA alumna, Amanda Tenney, was recently promoted to Project Delivery Senior Analyst at Deloitte Consulting. Deloitte is the brand under which tens of thousands of dedicated professionals in independent firms throughout the world collaborate to provide audit & assurance, consulting, risk and financial advisory, risk management, tax, and related services to select clients.


Monika Causholli recently presented her paper titled "Overseeing the External Audit Function: Evidence from Recent Audit Committee Voluntary Disclosures" and co-authored with Brian Bratten and Valbona Sulcaj, at the International Symposium of Audit Research (ISAR) held in Maastricht, the Netherlands. Her other paper titled  "The Market Premium of Audit Partners with Big 4 Experience" and co-authored with Kenneth Bills and Aleksandra Zimmerman was presented at the European Accounting Association Annual Congress in Milan, Italy.


University of Kentucky's Provost, David Blackwell recently announced that Simon J. Sheather has been selected as the next dean of the Gatton College of Business and Economics, pending approval by the UK Board of Trustees.
