This month, I’m excited to bring you an opportunity to visit with Gatton’s first year students, and hear what they loved, learned and were challenged by during their first semester at the college. You won’t want to miss their advice on getting the most out of today’s Lexington and the University of Kentucky!

The Department of Management hosted the 2019 Mid-South Management Research Consortium, organized by Wally Ferrier and Joe Labianca, February 22-24, at the Gatton College. Albert Cannella, Texas A&M University, presented the keynote address, "Strategic Leadership Research in the Digital Age".

As part of the LINKS Center Distinguished Scholar lecture series, Michael Jensen, University of Michigan, presented his research, "The Paradox of Awards: How Status Ripples Affect Who Benefits From CEO Awards", on February 22. 


Kristine Hankins will be presenting "Do Firms Hedge During Distress?" at the Florida State University Sun Trust Conference on April 5. The paper is co-authored with Heitor Almeida (Illinois, NBER) and Ryan Williams (Arizona).

The Council of Economic Advisers recently released a study on deregulating health insurance markets. It cites a 2017 study on the Affordable Care Act by Charles Courtemanche and Aaron Yelowitz in the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management.


Brian Murtha has been appointed to the Editorial Review Board of the International Journal of Research in Marketing (IJRM). The International Journal of Research in Marketing is at the forefront of the marketing field.
