Professors from the University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics have earned the distinction of being among the top 2% of scientists worldwide as measured by the impact of their research publications. The five business school faculty were identified in a fall 2021 update to the worldwide database of top scientists created by Stanford University and published here. The elite ranking is based on 20 or more years of impact in their fields of study.
“One of the five principles of the university’s newly adopted strategic plan is research, which serves to advance Kentucky through interdisciplinary discovery and collaboration,” said Robert DiPaola, MD, acting provost. “It is foundational to who we are at the University of Kentucky, and these five faculty members have demonstrated an unmatched commitment to those we serve.”
The rankings come from a Stanford University database of more than 100,000 top scientists in the world. The compilation tracks standardized information on citation metrics and other factors that measure the impact of a researcher’s work.
Earning a place among the world’s top 2% of scientists ranked in their specific research subfields over 20 years are the following five Gatton College faculty researchers, whose work at the business school continues to be widely cited:

The college is ranked in the Top 100 worldwide in the prestigious ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Business Administration 2021 and No. 79 in the North American rankings for research productivity in the University of Texas at Dallas Business School Research Productivity Rankings.
