David Hardesty and former University of Kentucky doctoral student, James Mead, have a paper forthcoming in the Journal of Retailing titled “Price Font Disfluency: Anchoring Effects on Future Price Expectations.”

The University of Kentucky's Gatton College of Business and Economics welcomes an experienced and professionally diverse group of students into the MBA program. Compared to previous years, this 2017 Professional MBA class also brings more professional work experience and higher GMAT/GRE scores along with an increase number of international candidates and professional women. Richard Hunt, a Director at Koch Equity Development, will meet with students 6pm-7pm on Wednesday, September 6, in Woodward Hall, Gatton 307, to discuss work in private equity and a 2018 summer internship position at Koch Equity Development, the acquisition and investment arm of Koch Industries.


Nicole Thorne Jenkins presented her paper titled "Ties that bind: Knowledge sharing networks and auditor performance" co-authored with Monika Causholli, Theresa Floyd, and Scott Soltis at the American Accounting Association’s annual meeting in August.

In addition, she also presented her paper titled "Thick as Thieves: Reciprocity between Compensation Peers " co-authored with Paquita Davis-Friday and Chong Wang at the American Accounting Association’s annual meeting in August.


 University of Kentucky faculty member James Ziliak’s research on senior hunger was recently featured in The Washington Post. The article discusses recent trends in food insecurity for people over 60.  

The study report finds that rates of food insecurity have remained persistently high following the Great Recession, and that the economic recovery's effects seem to be the weakest for older Americans. "There was no significant decline in seniors 'facing hunger,'" Ziliak said. "This rate has been stubbornly stuck."


Until now, no master of finance degree program existed in the state of Kentucky. That is changing this week as the University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics officially launches its new professional Master of Science in Finance (MSF) degree.


Alexis Allen, Meike Eilert, and John Peloza recently had their paper titled "How Deviations From Performance Norms Impact Charitable Donations" accepted at the Journal of Marketing Research, a top journal in the marketing field. Congratulations to Alexis, Meike, and John!


Brian Bratten and David Hulse were awarded the Journal of the Accounting Taxation Association (JATA) Best Paper Award for their paper titled, “Retroactive tax legislation, reported earnings, and investors’ responses to earnings ‘surprises’: Evidence from R&D credit extensions,” at the AAA Annual Meeting in San Diego on August 7.
