Christopher Waller, executive vice president and research director at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate as Federal Reserve governor. The Federal Reserve System comprises the Board of Governors along with 12 independent Reserve banks across the country. Waller will fill a currently unexpired term ending Jan. 31, 2030.


A paper by Will Gerken and Marc Painter '19 entitled, "The Value of Differing Points of View: Evidence from Financial Analysts' Geographic Diversity" was presented at the NBER Conference on Big Data and Securities Markets.


Members of the University of Kentucky community can now access The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) free of charge.

The Institute for the Study of Free Enterprise (ISFE) in the Gatton College of Business and Economics, along with the Student Government Association (SGA), have partnered with WSJ to provide school-sponsored memberships to all students, faculty and staff.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 24, 2020) ⁠— Forty-seven Kentucky schools have been labeled "bright spots" in a new report released by The Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER) in the Gatton College of Business and Economics at the University of Kentucky.


From large family gatherings to crowded store aisles, as the COVID-19 pandemic persists, Americans are rethinking their holiday traditions.

This time of year, the economy relies heavily on consumer spending. According to the National Retail Federation, holiday sales represent about 20% of annual U.S. retail sales.

But will the pandemic shrink budgets? And could it change how people shop for gifts?

Rodney McMullen`82, CEO of the Kroger Company, joined "Good Morning America" ahead of the holiday to share how their stores have prepared to help customers get ready to shop with ease. 

"Thanksgiving is a holiday that we started planning for six months ago so we have plenty of turkeys," McMullen assured.


Congratulations to two University of Kentucky Accounting students, Ariel Q. Brent (left), and Geetika Rakhraj, who received Legacy Scholarships from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).  The two students received the Scholarship Award for Minority Accounting Students for the current academic year.
