I committed to the University of Kentucky due to facilities, faculty, programs, and the reputation of the accounting department. My father, Michael Matile, graduated from UK as a finance major in the Gatton College of Business so it was always on the radar. I specifically chose the Gatton College of Business & Economics due to my interest in the business field and my future as an accountant. I felt that Gatton offered me great resources and opportunities to help grow my network and propel my career once I graduate.
The most memorable thing that has happened to me on campus was all the K week activities. From career fairs to university sponsored welcome parties, it really helped me meet new people, get a sense of college life, and learn how to get involved in campus organizations and clubs.
Some challenges I have had to work through so far is managing my time. I have had to learn how to balance social life with schoolwork and clubs/organizations. Some good things that have happened are the new friends, professors, and clubs I have met and joined. I have been able to meet many great people that I am able to hang out with, work with, and talk to as well as being able to join many clubs that not only help me with my career, but also appeal to my day-to-day hobbies.
