The University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics will offer the Pelissier Scholarship for the fifth consecutive year. Applications are open to all undergraduate students of all majors currently enrolled at the University of Kentucky with expected graduation dates between December 2022 and May 2023. The deadline is February 19, 2021.
Geared toward students interested in finance careers, the program provides opportunities for select students to develop an enhanced understanding of how financial markets and institutions operate. Students receive valuable networking opportunities and many have received job offers after participating in the program.
A key feature of the Pelissier Scholars experience was a week-long trip to Wall Street, which offered UK students first-hand experience in U.S. financial markets. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the 2021 Pelissier scholars will not be traveling New York in person. Instead, virtual networking meetings and virtual company tours will be offered.
“The Pelissier Scholarship experience helps to bridge the gap between the academic world and the business world, with the hands-on practical financial skills students need to excel in financial, banking and business development fields,” said Wendy Liu, senior lecturer, Marguerite Pelissier Teaching Fellow and director of Undergraduate Studies for Gatton’s Department of Finance and Quantitative Methods. “It is inspiring to see the high level of interest, the enthusiasm and the desire of our students to succeed in an increasingly competitive world.”
A maximum of twenty-five participants will be selected. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and selected candidates will be invited to interviews. Scholarship recipients will be notified by 5 p.m. EST on March 1, 2021.
