The University of Kentucky's Gatton College of Business and Economics will host Wall Street Prep's M&A and LBO Modeling Virtual Boot Camp on April 10-11, 2021. The virtual seminar will be of particular interest to students pursuing careers in investment banking, private equity, portfolio management, business and corporate development, capital markets, equity and credit research, and industry corporate finance.

Alumni Update: January/February 2021

 


A paper by David Hardesty and co-authors Jonathan Hasford, Blair Kidwell, Broderick Turner, and Alex Zablah has been accepted at the Journal of Marketing. 

In the paper, "Emotional Calibration and Salesperson Performance Abstract," the authors propose that the link between emotional intelligence (EI) and sales performance can be better understood by considering a salesperson’s confidence in how they use emotions, known as emotional self-efficacy (ESE). 


“The Price Impact of Share Repurchases: Evidence from Dual Class Shares," a paper by PNC Associate Professor of Finance Leonce Bargeron will be published in Management Science. 


Leslie Vincent was selected to participate in the Bluegrass Higher Education Consortium Academic Leadership Academy (BHEC-ALA).  

The Vision of BHEC is to create and support collaborative action and innovation among higher education, and as a result, improve educational attainment and economic opportunities for central Kentuckians. 


On Feb. 26, Brian Bratten presented his paper, "Measurement of Executive Compensation in Mandated SEC Disclosures: Implications for the CEO Pay Ratio," co-authored with Adam Manlove, Casey Schwab, and Bridget Stomberg, at a virtual accounting seminar hosted by Murray State University. 


The latest issue of the Economic Journal features Steven Lugauer's most recent publication, "Is Fertility a Leading Economic Indicator?" The article is joint work with Gatton alum Kasey Buckles and Daniel Hungerman, both at the University of Notre Dame. 


Felipe Benguria's paper "The Matching and Sorting of Exporting and Importing Firms: Theory and Evidence" has been published by the Journal of International Economics. The paper studies the response of US exporters to the US-Colombia free trade agreement.
