Congratulations to Hao Guo, a 5th year Phd student, who has won this year's Mullineaux award. The Mullineaux award is given annually to the outstanding PhD student in the Gatton College. A formal presentation of the award will be made at the December faculty meeting. Hao's dissertation is "Three Essays on the Heterogeneous Effects of Trade". His co-chairs are Jenny Minier and Josh Ederington.
Dan Stone's paper (with Cam Cockrell (PhD, VASOA, 2008) and Ben Wier), titled, "Accounting for Professional Accountants’ Dysfunctional Knowledge Sharing: A Self-Determination Theory Perspective," was accepted for publication in the American Accounting Association's Journal of Information Systems.
Steven Lugauer presented his paper "Fertility is a Leading Economic Indicator" on October 10th at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Carlos Lamarche presented “A Panel Quantile Approach to Attrition Bias in Big Data: Evidence from a Randomized Experiment” at the 2016 Midwest Econometrics Group Meeting at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign on October 21st. The paper is co-authored with M. Harding (University of California Irvine).
Russell Jame's paper, "Liquidity Provision and the Cross-Section of Hedge Fund Returns" was accepted for publication at Management Science.
Mark Liu's paper, "Corporate Disclosure, Analyst Forecast Dispersion, and Stock Returns," is forthcoming in Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance. The paper is authored by Ashiq Ali from UT Dallas, Mark Liu from the University of Kentucky, Tong Yao from the University of Iowa, and Danielle Xu from Gonzaga University.
