The Gatton College of Business and Economics is proud to announce the results from the first University of Kentucky stock pitch competition. Funding partners, the Institute for the Study of Free Enterprise and Truist, the competition was open to all students enrolled full-time in undergraduate or master’s-level programs at the University of Kentucky. The faculty advisors of the Finance Society, the Economics Society, and the Wildcat Investment Club (Wendy Liu, Darshak Patel, and Will Gerken) jointly organized the competition.
Brian Murtha has been appointed to the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Marketing, an elite journal. Since its founding in 1936, the Journal of Marketing has played a significant role in the dissemination of marketing knowledge grounded in scholarly research, as well as in shaping the content and boundaries of the marketing discipline. David Hardesty has an article forthcoming at the Journal of Consumer Research, an elite marketing journal. The work is entitled “Experiencing and Reasoning about Emotions in Evaluative Conditioning: How Emotional Ability Impacts Attitude Formation” and is co-authored with Jonathan Hasford from the University of Central Florida and Blair Kidwell from the University of North Texas. Haipeng (Allan) Chen has been invited to serve as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Retailing. The Journal of Retailing is marketing's longest-running journal founded in 1926, and is devoted to advancing the state of knowledge and its application with respect to all aspects of retailing, its management, evolution, and current theory. Congratulations to senior major Caroline Will. Out of 150 applicants, Caroline Will has been selected as one of five 2018 Kentucky Derby Festival Princesses. Over a four month period, she will be an ambassador for the City of Louisville, and will attend over 70 Derby Festival events. Princesses of the Royal Court are chosen based on poise, intelligence, personality, academics, knowledge of the Derby Festival, as well as school and community involvement.
Steven Lugauer presented “The Importance of Capital in Production and the Second Demographic Dividend” at the Midwest Economics Association conference on March 23 in Evanston, IL.
Scott Soltis and Dan Brass (with David Lepak, U. of Massachusetts Amherst) had their paper, "Social Resources Management: Integrating Social Network Theory and Human Resource Management," accepted for publication in Academy of Management Annuals.
