The 2018 Department of Marketing & Supply Chain Research and Teaching awards for Faculty and Students were announced this month. Congratulations to the following recipients! Professor Alexis Allen received the 2018 Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Teaching Award. Professor Aaron Garvey received the 2018 Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Research Award.   PhD Candidate Alex Ziegler received the 2018 Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Student Teaching Award.

The Department of Marketing & Supply Chain has further improved their UTD top 50 position for both Worldwide (#41) and North American (#38) research rankings. Congratulations to the Marketing & Supply Chain faculty on their continued productivity!

Commerford, Dennis Recipients of Grant

Assistant Professors, Ben Commerford and Sean Dennis have been awarded a competitive research grant from the Center for Audit Quality. Their project titled, “‘Alexa, Audit Loan Grades’: Enhancing Auditor Reliance on Artificial Intelligence Through Anthropomorphism” will examine issues related to the increasing role of artificial intelligence in the audit setting. Causholli presents at European conferences

Monika Causholli recently presented her paper titled "Overseeing the External Audit Function: Evidence from Recent Audit Committee Voluntary Disclosures" and co-authored with Brian Bratten and Valbona Sulcaj, at the International Symposium of Audit Research (ISAR) held in Maastricht, the Netherlands. Her other paper titled  "The Market Premium of Audit Partners with Big 4 Experience" and co-authored with Kenneth Bills and Aleksandra Zimmerman was presented at the European Accounting Association Annual Congress in Milan, Italy.

Pakistani Partnership Leads to Two Publications

The University Partnership in Business Administration in Pakistan was established in 2013 with $1.6 million dollars in funding from the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad to establish a partnership between the Gatton College of Business and Economics and five universities in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province of Pakistan (Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, IMSciences, Kohat University of Science and Technology, University of Peshawar, and University of Science and Technology Bannu.

UK MBA alumna, Elizabeth McCoy receives the Martha Layne Collins Leadership Award

President and CEO of Planters Bank, Elizabeth McCoy received the Martha Layne Collins Leadership Award at the 2018 Women Leading Kentucky's Annual Business & Leadership Conference. This prestigious award recognizes an individual Kentucky woman of achievement who inspires and motivates other women through their personal, community and professional lives.

Mark Liu presented paper in Ontario

Mark Liu, Associate Professor of Finance, has presented the paper “Corporate Risk-Taking in Dual-Class Firms” (coauthored with Brad Jordan and Soohyung Kim) at University of Western Ontario’s Ivey Business School on May 8, 2018.

Halgin Receives OMT Award

   Congratulations to Dan Halgin on being selected to receive the inaugural Academy of Management Organization and Management Theary Research Committee Service Award. This award was created by the OMT Executive Committee to recognize the valuable service provided by the most dedicated members of the research committee.

Brass Named University Research Professor

 The Board of Trustees named Dan Brass as a University Research Professor at their May 1 meeting.  The designation is awarded to "recognize and publicize research accomplishments of scholars across the full range of disciplines at UK."  Vice President for Research Lisa Cassis noted Brass' pioneering research in social network theory, the establishment of the LINKS Center for Social Network Analysis, and the more than 22,000 citations to his research.  Brass joins colleague Steve Borgatti as the second University Research Professor from the Departmen
