Jangsu Yoon is an assistant professor of economics at the University of Kentucky Gatton College of Business and Economics. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his B.A. in economics from Seoul National University.
Professor Yoon's research focuses on econometrics and industrial organization. His methodological research develops econometric tools for studying strategic interactions among firms, panel data, censored outcomes and economic models with incomplete information. His applied research uses these methods to study competition and market structure in banking, consumer credit, airlines, manufacturing and labor markets.
His research has been published in the Journal of Econometrics, Journal of Business & Economic Statistics, International Journal of Industrial Organization and Econometric Reviews. His current research examines topics including competition in banking markets, mergers, airline networks, supply resilience, used goods markets and the economic effects of international sanctions. He has also served as principal investigator on externally funded research projects supported by Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corporation and the Northwestern Mutual Data Science Institute.
Before joining the University of Kentucky; Professor Yoon was an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
