The Gatton College of Business and Economics is proud to announce the first University of Kentucky stock pitch competition in spring 2018. This event provides an opportunity for students to carry out creative, value-added research in stock investing and to obtain real-world insights about business. Special thanks to funding partners, Truist and the Institute for the Study of Free Enterprise, the competition is open to all students enrolled full-time in undergraduate or master’s-level programs at the University of Kentucky. The faculty advisors of the Finance Society, the Economics Society, and the Wildcat Investment Club will jointly organize the competition. Team prizes of $1,200, $800 and $400 will be given. 

The competition will be judged by a panel of industry experts:

Richard Hunt (Director, Koch Equity Development)

Geoff Rosenberger, CFA (Retired Co-Founder, Clover Capital Management, Inc.)

The competition will be announced campus-wide. The first info session will be held during the Finance Society meeting on January 24 (Wednesday) 6:15 pm -7:00 pm in Gatton room 283 and the second info session will be held on January 30 (Tuesday) 2:00 pm – 2:45 pm in Gatton room 311. Team formations (two to four students each team) must be submitted online between January 31 and February 7. Each team must choose one stock that meets the selection criteria below and submit a presentation file in PowerPoint by 11:59 pm Eastern time on March 21 (Wednesday). Selected teams will be assigned a faculty and/or industry mentor. Each team will present their pitch in front of the judges during March 28 – 29 (date and agenda TBD). Each team will give a strictly timed 10-minute presentation which will be followed by up to 15 minutes of Q&A. Winning teams will be selected based on presentation quality and the judging criteria. Prizes will be awarded to the winning teams by May 1, 2018.
