Kevin Salandanan, alum of the One Year MBA program at the University of Kentucky's Gatton College of Business and Economics, has been recently promoted to Energy Investment Analyst at J.P. Morgan, a global leader in financial services offering solutions to the world's most important corporations, governments and institutions in more than 100 countries.
"As an Energy Investment Analyst, I will manage a portfolio comprised of renewable energy deals as a part of the bank’s tax-oriented investments (TOI) group," says Kevin. "My responsibilities will include financial model analysis, as well as, working with various groups (deal team origination, asset management, and clients) in order to best service the investment."
Kevin graduated with his Bachelor's in Accounting and Finance and then immediately pursued his MBA at the University of Kentucky. Gatton's One Year MBA is a full-time program designed for young professionals and recent graduates from all majors. In addition, the program offers a unique built-in internship consulting experience called Project Connect whereby UK MBA students teams get to apply what they are learning in class to real-world corporate projects of importance. Kevin's Project Connect group was paired with Tempur Sealy International, which is the world's largest bedding provider and headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky.
"My time with Tempur Sealy was very helpful in preparing me for the intricacies and complications involved with corporate operations. This was immensely helpful, seeing as my first job in the bank ended up being in commercial banking operations."
Tempur Sealy International develops, manufactures and markets mattresses, adjustable bases, pillows and other sleep and relaxation products. Combining a proud history and groundbreaking innovation, the company holds some of the most highly recognized brands in the industry: Tempur®, Tempur-Pedic®, Cocoon™by Sealy, Sealy®, and Stearns & Foster®.
Kevin adds, "The UK MBA has already yielded many dividends throughout my time at J.P. Morgan. For one, I was better prepared to present to upper management and communicate ideas/findings to the appropriate parties. It also prepared me to serve as an interim operations manager for a period of time before changing lines of business."
Kevin's immediate plans are to continue leading and advancing at J.P. Morgan.
"I hope to become a subject matter expert in this field and eventually work my way up to being a Vice President, where I would be managing my own team of analysts and associates."
