It is with great sadness that the University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics announces the passing of our friend, Dr. M.S. Vijayaraghavan.
Dr. Viji was an active member of the Dean’s Advisory Council for the Gatton College of Business and Economics. Dean Simon Sheather commented that “Dr. Viji’s enthusiasm for the activities at the Gatton College and his sage advice will be profoundly missed.”
Dr. Viji leaves a legacy of giving and humanitarian service as a doctor, philanthropist, teacher, and visionary. His life's passion was to support, care for, and champion those in need.
President Eli Capilouto offered this tribute:
“I am deeply saddened by this news. Dr. Viji was in every sense one can imagine a gentleman of goodness, kindness, and high character. My times with him were precious and valuable because through word, wisdom, and deeds of generosity he taught me and others the essentiality of our humanity. While he will be sorely missed, who he was and what he did in his time will echo through time.”
A celebration of life will be held in his honor on Saturday, December 2 at the Bharatiya Temple and Cultural Center, 3050 N. Cleveland Road in Lexington, Kentucky. Dr. Viji’s obituary can be found here.
