I grew up in London, Kentucky. My family bleeds blue for sure. My father and his brother were both graduates as well as both my brothers. My father loved the University and all it represents. While my brothers and I all spent at least one year at another University, we all longed to return to BBN.
We grew up listening to UK sports. My father loved football and basketball. He served three terms as a member of the board of trustees and was a proud chair of the athletic committee.
I hold a B.S. in accounting and an MBA from Gatton. My father always felt accounting could take you anywhere. While studying for an MBA, I met my now husband in a class which was known as production (Hal hated it!). But that chance meeting led to a new hometown of Hopkinsville. Thank goodness for the accounting!
I spent nine years in public accounting before moving into banking. I accepted my current position with Planters Bank in 2000. We are currently celebrating 30 years in business and incredible growth. This is a position that I love. Community Banking allows for time to serve and give back to communities and institutions that improve our state.
I have served on the Dean’s Advisory Council for several years. It is an honor and a privilege to give back to the organization that influenced my professional life as well as my personal one.
How thrilled Hal and I are to have Griffin as a student at UK and in the Gatton College. He is enjoying accounting and since that was my major, I love that. Of course, our building is so grand compared to how we walked across the bridge into the old building. I hope he finds time to study in the Hal and Elizabeth McCoy room in Gatton!
here are so many ways to give to support our college. One important way is to encourage young people at attend the University of Kentucky. All our dorms are new and updated, Gatton has expanded and will continue to grow with the planned addition.
