This fall, the University of Kentucky and GlobeFin.org are running the Kentucky PFM Challenge. UK students get eight weeks to build a personal financial management app - budgeting, saving, investments, debt, or risk - for someone living in Kentucky: an individual, a household, or a small business. No coding background needed. Students describe what the tool should do, and an AI assistant writes the code. The skill on display is knowing what people need from a PFM tool.We're raising a $10,000 prize pool: a $5,000 grand prize and five $1,000 category prizes. For students, it's real money, a finished piece of work with their name on it, and a first real taste of building a financial solution.
