Yoko Kusunose is awarded an SEC Travel Grant

Yoko Kusunoes has been awarded a 2016-2017 SEC Travel Grant. She will use the grant to work with a colleague at the University of Florida in January 2017.  This marks the second year in a row that a member of the Department of Economics has been awarded an SEC Travel Grant as Jenny Minier received a grant in 2015-16 to work with colleagues at Louisiana State University.  

David Agrawal Presentations in Europe Relocation of the Rich: Migration in Response to Top Tax Rate Changes from Spanish Reforms

David Agrawal has recently presented his paper "Relocation of the Rich: Migration in Response to Top Tax Rate Changes from Spanish Reforms" at the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim, Germany, at the Universität Siegen in Siegen, Germany, and at the Swiss Economic Institute (KOF) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zürich, Switzerland.

Allen Wins Best Paper Award

Alexis Allen’s paper, “One Firm’s Loss is Another’s Gain: Capitalizing on Other Firms’ Service Failures,” was recently awarded the SERVSIG Best Paper Award for 2015.  This award is presented annually by SERVSIG to the author(s) of the best article in the services literature published during the previous calendar year.

Three MSACC grads were honored at the KYCPA spring banquet for their performance on the CPA exam

Katie Escudero (MSACC Class of 2015)  received the ‘Award of Excellence’ for her performance on the FAR section during the fourth quarter 2015 testing window.  Katie is currently working at Dean Dorton, Lexington. Julia Ellis (MSACC Class of 2016) received the ‘Award of Excellence’ for her performance on the BEC section during the first quarter of 2016 testing window.  Julia will be joining Harrod & Assoc., CPAs, Frankfort.

UK Wins NSF Grant to Launch Kentucky Research Data Center

Research that informs evidence-based policy is in heightened need in this era of fiscal austerity and economic and demographic change. To help meet that need, the University of Kentucky announced today the establishment of the Kentucky Research Data Center (KRDC). "With KRDC, the University of Kentucky joins an elite group of universities, and is the only one in the East Central region of the country, to be home to a National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded Federal Statistical Research Data Center," said UK President Eli Capilouto.
