Aaron Yelowitz has been appointed an associate editor of Public Finance Review .

Mark Liu co-authored an article for the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation

Mark Liu co-authored an article, "State of the Field: M&As and IPOs," for the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. The article reviews recent academic research on Mergers & Acquisitions (M&As) and Initial Public Offerings (IPOs). The other two coauthors are Debarshi Nandy of Brandeis University and Jay Ritter of the University of Florida. Kristine Hankins' Research Presented at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Professor Hankins presented her paper, "Understanding Precautionary Cash," co-authored with Mike Faulkender and Mitchell Petersen, at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign on Thursday, February 2.

Gatton students take 3rd at UGA Equity Valuation competition

Gatton College is proud to recognize seniors Eric Johnson, Ross Hildabrand, Rex Bray, and Drew Brueggeman, who represented UK in the annual University of Georgia Equity Valuation and Presentation competition in January 2017. The UK team was selected from dozens of participating universities to advance to the final round where they placed 3rd out of 12, besting competitors including the University of Georgia, Emory University, and the University of Alabama.

Causholli's Paper presented at the American Accounting Association Audit in Orlando

Monika Causholli's paper titled "Industry specific vs. task specific auditing expertise: the case of goodwill impairment" co-authored with Giulio Greco Giuseppe D'Onza and Silvia Ferramosca was presented at the American Accounting Association Audit Mid-year meeting in Orlando, Florida Monika Causholli was an invited panelist at the Audit PhD Consortium held in conjunction with the American Accounting Association Auditing mid-year meeting in Orlando, Florida.

Research presentations

Monika Causholli presented her paper titled "Ties that bind: Knowledge sharing networks and auditor performance" co-authored with Theresa Floyd, Nicole Jenkins and Scott Soltis at the International Conference on Assurance and Corporate Governance at the University of Florida, in Gainesville. She also presented this paper at the American Accounting Association Audit Mid-year meeting in Orlando, Florida.

Gatton Senior to Give UK's Breathitt Lecture Paige Dauparas Chosen from all UK Undergraduates

Paige A. Dauparas, a Gatton College accounting senior from Mokena, Illinois, has been selected to present the 23rd annual Edward T. Breathitt Undergraduate Lectureship in the Humanities at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, in the UK Athletics Auditorium at William T. Young Library. Dauparas' free public lecture focuses on diversity and how the search for individuality impacts unity. She is also majoring in English and Spanish literature and culture.

The Importance of Communication with the Board and Consistency with Peer Behavior” (with Jessica Osgood and Elaine Wang) was presented at the American Accounting Association Auditing Midyear meeting on January 13th, in Orlando, FL

Research presentations

Two accounting professors presented their research at the International Conference on Assurance and Governance at the University of Florida on January 11.   Monika Causholli presented her paper (co-authored with Nicole Jenkins, Scott Soltis, and Theresa Floyd) titled, “The Ties that Bind: Knowledge-Sharing Networks and Auditor Performance,” and   Brian Bratten presented his paper (co-authored with Monika Causholli and Tom Omer) titled, “Audit firm tenure, bank complexity, and financial reporting quality.”

Kristine Hankins had two papers on the program of the American Finance Association (AFA) Annual Meeting. Both "Understanding Precautionary Cash," co-authored with Mike Faulkender and Mitchell Petersen, and “Risk Management with Supply Contracts”, co-authored with Heitor Almeida and Ryan Williams, were presented on January 8.
