UKNOW - LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 20, 2022) — A University of Kentucky alumnus helped create an app to make exercise more fun. Destin George Bell graduated from UK in 2020 with a degree in marketing from the Gatton College of Business and Economics.
CINCINNATI, February 6, 2023—In a ceremony held at Cincinnati’s Music Hall on January 26, the Greater Cincinnati Tri-State Chapter of the American Red Cross honored Chair and CEO Rodney McMullen and the Kroger Family of Companies with the 2nd annual Clara Barton Award for Humanitarian Service. This prestigious award is presented to a dynamic leader or organization that demonstrates inspiring humanitarian concern for our community and advocates to make it a better place for us to live and work.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 13, 2022)— A transformative gift of $10 million will expand opportunities for students in the Gatton College of Business and Economics. Emphasizing a commitment to students and their success, the gift from John Maze Stewart, founding partner of MiddleGround Capital, was approved by the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees in today’s meeting.

Congratulations to Sarah (Burns) John, Ph.D. ’13 [Economics] for recently receiving the 2022 Larry D. Welch Award for Best External Publication for “Deterring Illegal Entry: Migrant Sanctions and Recidivism in Border Apprehensions.” The article was published in American Economic Journal in August 2021.
This month, the Gatton College of Business honored the 2022 Lyman T. Johnson award recipients and celebrated the Golden Wildcats during Homecoming week. The Gatton College of Business and Economics is pleased to announce the 2022 Lyman T. Johnson Award recipients. Lyman T. Johnson was a pioneer who challenged the status quo in his landmark court case which opened the University of Kentucky to Black students in 1949. He dedicated his life to fighting against segregation and racial inequalities in Kentucky. The Lyman T. Johnson African American Constituency Group established an endowed scholarship in his name to provide financial assistance to students of color in their pursuit of higher education.
