Commerford presentation at PCAOB

Assistant professor Ben Commerford (second from right) traveled to Washington D.C. this week with his research colleagues to present their paper at the PCAOB Conference on Auditing and Capital Markets. The research that he presented investigates how auditors rely on artificial intelligence when auditing complex accounting estimates. The coauthor team includes Jenny Wang, a current Ph.D. student at the University of Kentucky, Jennifer Joe from the University of Delaware, and Sean Dennis from the University of Central Florida.

Causholli Presents in Italy

Monika Causholli presented her paper titled, “Accounting Firm Size and Culture: An Institutional Theory Perspective” at the European Auditing Network Conference held in Parma, Italy. The paper is co-authored with Aleksandra Zimmerman at Florida State University and Candice Hux at Northern Illinois University.

Xie paper presentation - AAA Annual Meeting

Hong Xie’s paper (co-authored with Xiaohua Fang, Le Hua, and Jeffrey Pittman), “CEO Sensation Seeking and Accounting Conservatism” was presented at the American Accounting Association Annual Meeting in San Francisco, California on August 13, 2019.

Huang Paper Presented at AAA Annual Meeting

Accounting PhD student Meng Huang presented her paper (co-authored with Nicole Jenkins and Hong Xie), “Mandatory Repurchase Disclosure, Opportunistic Repurchases, and Their Real Effects” at the American Accounting Association Annual Meeting in San Francisco, California on August 12, 2019.

Bogdani Presents at American Accounting Association Annual Meeting

Ph.D. candidate Evisa Bogdani presented her paper titled, “The Role of Assurance in Equity Crowdfunding” at the AAA Annual Meeting, August 2019 in the Research Interaction Forum. The paper is co-authored with Monika Causholli and Robert Knechel (University of Florida).

Ph.D. student Evisa Bogdani presented the paper "The Role of Assurance in Equity Crowdfunding" at the International Symposium on Audit Research (ISAR) Conference in Boston, MA. The paper is co-authored with Monika Causholli and W. Robert Knechel from the University of Florida.

KPMG Appoints Gatton's Jeff Payne 2019 KPMG James Marwick Professor-In-Residence

Audit, tax and advisory firm KPMG LLP has named University of Kentucky professor Jeff Payne, KPMG Professor in the Von Allmen School of Accountancy in UK’s Gatton College of Business and Economics, as the 2019 KPMG James Marwick Professor-In-Residence. Payne believes accounting students should understand the opportunities that technology provides in improving financial statement audits, but also importantly, the new risks that are created by their use.

Wang presents paper at Canadian Ethics Symposium
