Mr. Jim Patton will be speaking to the Finance Society on April 18 (Tuesday) from 6:15pm-7:15pm in Gatton room 311. Mr. Patton is the founder/owner of KPAC Solutions, an international private equity firm that specializes in turnarounds for distressed manufacturing companies. Over 95% of the acquisitions and/or divestitures they have executed involve publicly traded companies on the NYSE or NASDAQ. They have never had to close or bankrupt an acquisition. Mr. Patton’s career path is an unorthodox one.


The University of Kentucky's MBA program at the Gatton College of Business and Economics has updated its GMAT/GRE Waiver Policy to take into consideration professional work experience, managerial accomplishments and/or additional leadership trainings and certifications.

The University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics invites nominations from college alumni and community members for the inaugural Gatton College Teaching Excellence Award.

The award honors Gatton teachers who inspire passion for their discipline, are especially innovative in the classroom, help students think critically and creatively about business problems, and help students engage with the local community.


Dr. Kathleen Vohs, from the University of Minnesota, visited the department on March 10 as part of the ongoing CEDAR speaker series in conjunction with the UK Psychology department. She presented her work examining how children learn to value experiences over objects, a phenomenon well-established in adults. This ground-breaking work seeks to examine the process by which preferences for experiences over physical objects develops. 


The Gatton Ambassadors, an organization of outstanding students in University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics, will host a special event centering on golf on Monday, April 10, at the University Club of Kentucky, located off of Leestown Roa


Daniel B. Wrenne, CLU, ChFC, CFP®, is the founder of Wrenne Financial Planning, a Lexington KY-based fee-only firm that helps young physicians navigate their journey toward financial independence. Mr. Wrenne is hiring an intern (financial planning assist) (position posted on Wildcat CareerLink). He will be visiting the Finance Society on March 21 (Tuesday) 6pm-7pm in Gatton room 311 to share industry insight, the firm, and position.
