University of Kentucky's MBA students, Zachary Yonts and Fletcher Young, won the graduate first place prize of $10,000 at the recent 2017 Alltech Innovation Competition.
Cam Adams, an equity research analyst at Community Trust and Investment Company, Lexington, will visit the Finance Society on April 11 (Tuesday). Cam graduated from UK in May 2015 with dual degree in finance and economics. Shortly after graduation, he joined Community Trust and Investment Company’s Wealth and Trust Management team as an Equity Analyst. Cam's primary responsibility is researching and recommending individual equity securities to invest in. Cam’s tertiary responsibilities include, trade execution, account compliance, client meetings, and developing marketing materials.
The CFO of Fazoli’s and an accomplished Gatton alum, Mr. David Hasler, will be giving a lecture to Gatton students 6pm-7:15pm on April 4 (Tuesday) in Gatton room 311. The Finance Society is hosting the event. Other student organizations are invited.
New research by Adam W. Craig, assistant professor of marketing in University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics, finds new parallels between idealized body images in advertising and consumer spending.
Craig, along with co-author Marisabel Romero (Colorado State University), will have their article published in the June 2017 issue of Journal of Consumer Research. According to the study, “Costly Curves: How Human-like Shapes Can Increase Spending,” even subtle reminders of idealized bodies can encourage overweight consumers to overspend.
Von Allmen School faculty members Monika Causholli and Nicole Thorne Jenkins, and Scott Soltis from Gatton's Department of Management, along with co-author Theresa Floyd (University of Montana) were recognized with the 2017 Midyear Meeting Best Overall Paper Award by the Auditing Section of the American Accounting Association. The Award recognizes an outstanding paper that was presented at the meeting.
Two Von Allmen School of Accountancy professors have been recognized and awarded for their ongoing research, teaching, and service achievements to Gatton College of Business and Economics.

Mr. Jim Patton will be speaking to the Finance Society on April 18 (Tuesday) from 6:15pm-7:15pm in Gatton room 311. Mr. Patton is the founder/owner of KPAC Solutions, an international private equity firm that specializes in turnarounds for distressed manufacturing companies. Over 95% of the acquisitions and/or divestitures they have executed involve publicly traded companies on the NYSE or NASDAQ. They have never had to close or bankrupt an acquisition. Mr. Patton’s career path is an unorthodox one.
