Dear Colleagues,
As noted in the email from the president this morning, the university will be closed to the public (i.e., non UK personnel) for the next three days. Additionally, all non-UK Health Care employees are encouraged to work from home the remainder of the week beginning Wednesday, March 18th. For many of us in Gatton College, remote work will continue after this week. We are crafting a plan that we are required to submit to the Provost Office for approval before circulating. It is our hope that we will be able to share it with you later this week. As of the close of business today please take with you all materials needed for the remainder of the academic semester. Please email R2D2@uky.edu to submit requests related to moving nonportable equipment or to request laptops. Emailing requests to IT will allow them to most effectively respond to your needs.
rest assured that this change in work modality will not affect employee compensation in the Gatton College. Additionally, as we transition, we will provide virtual opportunities for group interactions and social contact. Continue to access Gatton from Anywhere for assistance with working remotely and our Gatton Update page for related communication and support.
In the last week, the members of the Gatton College have demonstrated fortitude as we mobilized around working from home, 100% teaching online, and equipment redeployment. I am personally gratified at the many acts of kindness shown by both staff and faculty in support of one another and our students. As you care for your families, friends, colleagues and students in the coming weeks, please remember to take time each day to care for yourself. I encourage you to take a break, reflect and to find some joy during the uncertainty that we are facing together. We will emerge on the other side of this with resilience that we never knew we had.
If you need support, professionally or personally please do not hesitate to reach out to me or any of the associate deans or your supervisor. We stand ready to assist the Gatton community.
Regards Simon
