Colleagues,
Please read this email in full. The first portion summarizes clarifying information from the university about operational expectations. This was given yesterday and does not include consideration for the planned closing of K-12 public schools. I have added an addendum to the end covering this additional item.
Yesterday, I was contacted by central administration at UK with a clarification of expectations for college operations over the next three weeks. The only change in operations is that all face-to-face courses will be delivered online. All other academic, research and administrative activities that normally occur in the building should continue.
Normal operations include face-to-face meetings with students (office hours, advising, etc.), staff and faculty. For the teaching faculty, you should be prepared to hold both face-to-face and online meetings with students. Administrators and staff will continue to operate as normal. It is the university’s expectation that all facilities and units will be open and fully operational. As stated in the meeting Thursday morning, both faculty and staff are to take any specific HR concerns to Nicole and Christy. If you are unable to hold a face-to-face meeting, please utilize zoom or another form of technology.
UPDATE
We are waiting to hear from the university regarding accommodations for staff and faculty in response to the planned closing of K-12 public schools in local districts. Please rest assured that the flexibility normally extended in relation to K-12 school closings will be observed in the Gatton College until we receive clarification from the university.
This matter is ever evolving and will require great attention. I appreciate your continual support of university leadership as we navigate these challenges together.
Simon
