Elly Piatt is the Gatton Outstanding Senior in Economics. Balancing two majors, a minor, numerous internships, and campus leadership opportunities, Elly has proven to be an exceptional student.
“One of the most meaningful experiences I've had at Gatton was the Economics of Altruism class with Gail Hoyt. This class allowed us to apply economic concepts to local non-profits. It empowered me to take my Gatton experience and make a difference in the local community.” - Elly
Elly’s second major is in political science, for which she served as a US Senate intern, a House of Representatives intern, and a Kentucky Senate President’s Office intern. She completed a development internship with the Texas Public Policy Foundation in Austin, Texas. She has served as deputy chief of staff in the Student Government Association, tutored economics in the LEAP lab, and more.
Associate Professor of Economics, Adib Bagh said, “Despite Elly’s long list of extracurricular activities, two majors, and a minor, Elly has managed a GPA of 3.95. I hope that, by getting this award, Elly will receive the recognition she deserves for being a truly exceptional member of our college.” Congratulations Elly!
Elly was awarded the Gatton Outstanding Senior in Economics award on Friday, April 14, at the annual Gatton Honors Day celebration.
