Yes. A built-in or external webcam and microphone are required for virtual classes, online meetings, presentations, and proctored exams.
Not necessarily. Most assignments are submitted digitally, and printing is available on campus. However, having a printer at home is a personal preference.

No, Linux is not officially supported by Gatton IT. If you choose to use Linux, you're responsible for ensuring compatibility with required software like Microsoft Office, Respondus, and exam platforms.
Yes, in most cases. Many courses use in-class assignments or digital tools, so you’re expected to bring a fully charged laptop regularly. Instructors will let you know when it’s not required.
Yes, but only as a secondary device. Tablets are fine for notes and reading, but they aren’t a replacement for a laptop in courses that require software installation or secure exam platforms.

Go to https://download.uky.edu and sign in with your LinkBlue credentials. You’ll find access to Microsoft Office, MATLAB, SPSS, Respondus, and many other licensed tools.
While you'll still need your own laptop for daily use, VirtualDen offers a helpful workaround for accessing Windows-only software. It's a remote Windows environment supported by UK ITS and accessible through the Citrix Workspace App, which works on Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android.
