Russell Jame is the Ashland Oil Professor of Finance in the John Maze Stewart Department of Finance and Quantitative Methods at the University of Kentucky where he serves as interim department chair. He received his Ph.D. in Finance from Emory University and his B.S. in Business Administration, summa cum laude, from Georgetown University. Before joining UK, he was an assistant professor of finance at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.
His research examines how information shapes financial markets, with a particular focus on financial analysts, retail investors and other information intermediaries. His work has been published in leading finance journals including the Journal of Finance, the Review of Financial Studies and the Journal of Financial Economics. His research has also been featured in business publications including The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg News and Harvard Business Review. In recognition of his research contributions, he was named a 2026–27 University Research Professor.
In addition to his research, Professor Jame teaches graduate and doctoral courses in finance and has served in numerous leadership roles within the Gatton College of Business and Economics.
