Throughout the year, the Gatton College of Business and Economics hosts events and competitions that connect students with alumni, employers, faculty and industry leaders. These experiences give students opportunities to apply what they are learning in the classroom and begin forming the professional relationships that will support them long after graduation.
The year begins with events designed to welcome students into the Gatton community, including Gatton Welcome, Gatton Connect and other early engagement opportunities that help students connect with the college and its resources. As the semester continues, career-focused programming and employer events help students explore their interests and begin thinking more intentionally about their future.
Several of Gatton’s signature events also create meaningful opportunities for alumni and industry partners to get involved. Programs such as Gatton Global Week, the Economic Outlook Conference, Supply Chain Forum, Econ Games, Blue Means Business Conference, Marketing Sales Competition, Leadership Week and other student competitions and professional development events bring together students and professionals for mentorship, networking, judging, speaking and sponsorship opportunities. These events help students see business in action while giving alumni and partners a direct role in supporting the next generation of Gatton graduates.
In the spring, the college recognizes student achievement, faculty expertise and alumni success through several celebration ceremonies and commencement-related activities. Each event strengthens the connection between Gatton students and the broader community of alumni, donors and business leaders who continue to invest in the college’s future.
Alumni and friends of the college play an important role in making these experiences possible. Whether serving as speakers, mentors, judges, sponsors or volunteers, their involvement helps expand what students can learn and achieve during their time at Gatton.
