Simon Says - June 2020

This month, we recognize two economics faculty members, Chuck Courtemanche and Aaron Yelowitz. Their research has been featured on several media outlets across the country, including CNN and Fox News. We also recognize students, faculty, and staff for their hard work and dedication with the new SGO Above & Beyond Awards. A special highlight -- Vice Dean Nicole Jenkins as she transitions into her role as Dean of McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia. We will miss her!

Simon Says - March / April Edition

In this edition of Simon Says, we offer a behind-the-scenes look at how our faculty and staff are working these days.  You'll hear from Associate Dean Paul Childs, who has worked tirelessly to transfer over 200 courses online mid-semester. Paul goes into detail about how the college proactively prepared for COVID-19 and gives recognition to the many people who have helped along the way.  We are proud to offer students the same high quality access and support - even in this challenging environment.

Simon Says February 2020 Edition

Happy February! It’s the month of love, and we’re focusing on two things I love the most: teaching and research. In this edition of Simon Says, three outstanding faculty members will discuss their research. I know you’ll be as impressed with these accomplished individuals as I am. You’ll also see footage from our “For the Love of Gatton” event, part of our 95th anniversary celebration, and hear about all the great things we have in store.  Thanks for watching - see you next month for March Madness!

Simon Says January 2020 Edition

Happy 2020! I’ve returned from an amazing holiday in Australia, and we’re ready for a “ripper-chipper” (that’s Australian for great) year here at Gatton. In the January edition of Simon Says, you will hear from some amazing innovators. Gatton alumnus Rex Tibbens - CEO and President of Frontdoor and one of our Executives in Residence - shares some inspirational words.

Simon Says - Holiday Edition

In the December edition of Simon Says, Simon looks back on another action-packed year at Gatton. This month, Simon got to do one of his favorite things — act as a roving reporter! This time he asked people around the college about their new year’s resolutions. We heard some very interesting responses. You might even hear a song!

Simon Says - November Edition

The November Thanksgiving edition of Simon Says is all about something we're very thankful for here at the Gatton College - our outstanding alumni! In honor of Veterans Day, we speak with Scott Kiser, Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary for the U.S. Air Force. With 27 years of active duty under his belt and the manager of a 70B budget, Scott is an ideal fit for our Executive in Residence program.

Simon Says - October Edition

The October edition of Simon Says features highlights from the State of the College and the strategic planning process for our next five year plan.

Simon Says - Entrepreneurship Edition!

The September edition of Simon Says is all about one of our major initiatives here at the Gatton College - entrepreneurship!  This month, not only did we kick off the fifth year of our successful Entrepreneurs Bootcamp program, but we also launched our brand new Entrepreneurship & New Venture Creation concentration in our MBA program.
