Skilar Brooks, a sophomore Lewis Honors College student, information communication technology (College of Communication and Information) and marketing (Gatton College of Business and Economics) double major, is one of two national 2023 recipients of the Carl C. Brooke Harover, a Gatton College of Business and Economics academic advisor, received the University of Kentucky’s 2023 Ken Freedman Outstanding New Advisor of the Year.  Each year the Ken Freedman Outstanding Advisor Award is presented by the UK Advising Network to one full-time professional advisor and one faculty advisor for outstanding service.


Tyler Kleppe, Assistant Professor and Ashland Oil Research Fellow, presented his research at the North Carolina State Risk Governance Research Symposium. "Climate-Related Uncertainty and Managerial Short-Termism" with co-author, Justin Blann from Arizona State University.


Assistant Professor, Taylor Begley's papers, "Disaster Lending: 'Fair' Prices, but 'Unfair' Access, and "Long-Run Labor Costs of Housing Booms and Busts, have been accepted for publication by prestigious journals.


Ben Commerford, Arthur Andersen Associate Professor, was recently appointed to the Editorial Board of Behavioral Research in Accounting.


Associate Professor, Adam Craig's new paper, "A Picture is Worth a Thousand Dollars: Visual Aids Promote Investor Decisions," is set to be published in the Journal of the Association of Consumer Research's special issue on Financial Decision Making. 


Hong Xie's paper titled "Tax avoidance and firm value: does qualitative disclosure in the tax footnote matter?" (co-authored with Le Luo, Mark S. Ma, and Thomas C. Omer) is published online at Review of Accounting Studies.
