Kim Awarded SEC Travel Grant

Ji Youn "Rose" Kim, Gatton assistant professor of management, joins faculty members from all 14 Southeastern Conference universities taking part in the 2017-18 SEC Faculty Travel Program.  Kim will travel to the Department of Management in the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University to work with Dr. Mike Howard and Dr. Michael Withers on research introducing analytical tools (Exponential Random Graph Models) to management strategy research. 

David Hardesty and former UK doctoral student James Mead's research forthcoming at Journal of Retailing

David Hardesty and former University of Kentucky doctoral student, James Mead, have a paper forthcoming in the Journal of Retailing titled “Price Font Disfluency: Anchoring Effects on Future Price Expectations.”

Nicole Jenkins presents at AAA annual meeting

Nicole Thorne Jenkins presented her paper titled "Ties that bind: Knowledge sharing networks and auditor performance" co-authored with Monika Causholli, Theresa Floyd, and Scott Soltis at the American Accounting Association’s annual meeting in August. In addition, she also presented her paper titled "Thick as Thieves: Reciprocity between Compensation Peers " co-authored with Paquita Davis-Friday and Chong Wang at the American Accounting Association’s annual meeting in August.

Research by Alexis Allen, Meike Eilert, and John Peloza accepted at premier Journal of Marketing Research

Alexis Allen, Meike Eilert, and John Peloza recently had their paper titled "How Deviations From Performance Norms Impact Charitable Donations" accepted at the Journal of Marketing Research, a top journal in the marketing field. Congratulations to Alexis, Meike, and John!

Professors Bratten & Hulse Best Paper Award

Brian Bratten and David Hulse were awarded the Journal of the Accounting Taxation Association (JATA) Best Paper Award for their paper titled, “Retroactive tax legislation, reported earnings, and investors’ responses to earnings ‘surprises’: Evidence from R&D credit extensions,” at the AAA Annual Meeting in San Diego on August 7.

Brian Murtha's Research Published in premier Journal of Marketing

Brian Murtha’s paper, “Clustering, Knowledge Sharing, and Intrabrand Competition: A Multi-Year Analysis of an Evolving Franchise System,” (with Moeen Butt, Kersi Antia, and Vishal Kashyap) was recently accepted for publication in the Journal of Marketing.  

Dan Sheehan & Aaron Garvey Receive Departmental Awards

Dan Sheehan and Aaron Garvey each received annual awards this month from the department of Marketing & Supply Chain.  Dan received the Teaching Excellence Award for 2017, and Aaron received the Research Excellence Award for 2017. Congratulations to both!

Academy of Management Meeting 2017

Several faculty and PhD students participated in the recent Academy of Management Annual Meetings in Atlanta, August 10-16. Ji Youn (Rose) Kim received the CGIO Best Paper Award in International Corporate Governance from the International Management Division of the Academy.for her research: Xu, K., Kim, J., Withers, M. & Howard, M., "The evolution of board interlock network: A comparative study of U.S. and China."

Leonce Bargeron has paper accepted
