Dual Degrees

Take advantage of an MBA at the University of Kentucky’s world class research institution by combining academic disciplines with one of our comprehensive dual-degree program offerings. Offered in combination with our best-in-class MBA programs, these offerings allow candidates to accelerate their professional qualifications and incorporate business into other interest areas.

The University of Kentucky Engineering/MBA dual degree program allows students who possess technical backgrounds in engineering and computer science to round out their skill set with the leadership and business skills that are highly valued in the workplace.

Open only to graduates of UK’s undergraduate engineering programs, candidates apply in the fall of their senior year for consideration to this highly competitive program. A limited number of places are available, and each selected candidate will be awarded a $25,000 scholarship for their One Year MBA tuition.

  • GMAT or GRE: The Institution Code for the UK Graduate School is 1837

  • Undergraduate transcripts (Engineering or Computer Science Majors only): Minimum undergraduate GPA requirement is 3.25
  • One Letter of Recommendation
  • Personal Statement: Write a personal statement (500 words or less) about your career goals. Include how you anticipate you will grow and change as a person, a professional, and a leader in your time as an MBA student in order to help you achieve your career goals. Consider: What mindset will you need to succeed during your MBA experience? How will you contribute to the Gatton College as a student and alumni? How will you contribute to your future employer, community, and society?
  • Once the application fee and all supporting materials are submitted for consideration, application files are reviewed by the joint Engineering/MBA Admissions Committee.
  • The Admissions Committee will invite finalists to sit for an interview prior to a decision being finalized.
  • To confirm spot in the UK Joint Engineering/MBA dual degree program accepted candidates must return both their statement of acceptance and non-refundable deposit.
  • Individuals not selected for the dual degree program will still be considered for admission and scholarships for the One Year MBA.

For individuals interested in pursuing a career in business law, the JD/MBA dual degree program offered by the University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and J. David Rosenberg College of Law accelerates time to completion while still including professional preparation outside the classroom.

Available in combination with either the One Year MBA (link) or Professional MBA(link) candidates complete their coursework in just three years.

  • Year 1: 30 credit hours of required law courses. Submit application for admission to the One Year MBA.
  • Year 2: 25 credit hours of MBA courses and 8 credit hours of law courses.
  • Year 3: 3 credit hours of MBA courses and 33 credit hours of law courses.
  • Additional Tuition for One Year MBA: $250 per credit hour ($9,500 total)
  • Year 1: 30 credit hours of required law courses. Submit application for admission to the One Year MBA.
  • Year 2: 12 credit hours of MBA courses and 20-21 credit hours of law courses.
  • Year 3: 15 credit hours of MBA courses and 20-21 credit hours of law courses.
  • Additional Tuition for Professional MBA: $250 per credit hour ($6,750 total)

  • Candidates for the JD/MBA may submit their LSAT scores in place of GRE/GMAT scores.

The UK PharmD/MBA dual degree prepares candidates with the essential foundations to launch a career as a practicing pharmacist and serve as a leader in a variety of healthcare roles. This program is Offered with either the Professional MBA (link) or the Professional MBA for Leaders in Healthcare.

  • Year 1: Pharmacy courses as scheduled. Submit application for admission to the One Year MBA.
  • Year 2: Pharmacy courses as scheduled and 12 credit hours of Professional MBA courses (6 credit hours both Fall and Spring)
  • Year 3: Pharmacy courses as scheduled and 12 credit hours of Professional MBA courses (6 credit hours both Fall and Spring)
  • Year 4: APPE Rotations and 6 credit hours of Professional MBA courses (3 credits both Fall and Spring)
  • Program Fee: $250 per credit hour ($7,500 total)

  • Candidates for the PharmD/MBA may submit their PCAT scores in place of GRE/GMAT scores. For those candidates admitted to the PharmD program with a PCAT waiver, a GRE/GMAT waiver will also be granted.

The University of Kentucky's STEM/MBA dual degree is a unique program that intersects science, technology, engineering and mathematics with a versatile business knowledge needed to successfully manage within the high-tech business environment. Awarding both the Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees in just five years, candidates will build upon their technical expertise with the practical business knowledge of an MBA.

  • Years 1, 2, and 3: Complete courses in the College of Arts & Sciences as scheduled.
  • Year 4: Complete courses in the College of Arts & Sciences as scheduled.
  • Year 5: Start the One Year MBA program, which includes the Project Connect internship experience.

Items to Note

  • For the STEM/MBA dual degree program, the MBA Admissions Committee reserves a certain number of seats each year into the One Year MBA. Admissions decisions are considered on a rolling admissions, so it's strongly recommended to apply early.
  • Only STEM majors at the University of Kentucky qualify for this dual degree option, however other A&S majors from the University of Kentucky (and other institutions) can still apply for consideration into the One Year MBA program.
  • Each candidate's submitted application is automatically considered for scholarship consideration (as funds are available).
