  • Undergraduate transcripts: Minimum undergraduate GPA requirement is 2.75

  • Personal Statement: Please write a brief essay (500-700 words) that address the following questions: Considering your professional goals, why are you pursuing an MBA? Why do you believe the University of Kentucky's MBA program is a good fit for you? What do you perceive to be your unique strengths that will help you succeed in our program as well as professionally in your career.

International students are required to submit all application requirements above and a demonstration of English proficiency.

  • TOEFL / IELTS / DUOLINGO accepted. Minimum TOEFL score is 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), or 79 (internet-based). The minimum IELTS score is 6.5. The minimum DUOLING is 115, (add comma) plus an online interview. The TOEFL Institution Code for the UK Graduate School is 1837.
  • TOEFL/IELTS waiver can be offered to students who earned their bachelors' degrees from other U.S. universities.
  • An interview with the admissions committee is required.

International students in the program must take at least nine credit hours per semester in order to maintain the full-time student status. Students may apply for a reduced course load the last semester.

  • Once the application fee and all supporting materials are submitted for consideration, application files are reviewed by the MBA Admissions Committee.
  • Candidates may be requested to sit for an interview prior to a decision being finalized.
  • Applications are processed on a rolling basis and recommendations are typically made to the Graduate School within one month from submission.
  • To confirm spot in the UK MBA accepted candidates must return both their statement of acceptance and seat deposit.

All incoming MBA candidates are required to successfully complete MBA Math and an Economics primer in order to prepare for our program. Once accepted applicants confirm their acceptance into our program, additional information will be shared for MBA Math and the Economics primer. The cost for MBA Math is $105 per candidate, and takes approximately thirty hours to complete. The primer on Economics is free, and takes approximately fifteen hours to complete.

Entrance Exam

We do not require standardized test scores as part of our application for our Part-Time MBA program. We believe our candidates’ previous professional accomplishments, as well as previous academic performance, are the strongest indicators of our candidates’ ability to be successful in our Part-Time MBA program. If you believe the entrance exam, GRE or GMAT, will strengthen your application, you may voluntarily provide your test information in your application.

While courses are taught in a traditional classroom setting, they are simultaneously streamed live. As such, all benefits of the UK’s Part-Time MBA program can be accessed and utilized online as they occur in person. This allows you to fully participate in classroom discussions and activities, ensuring you develop connections with faculty and fellow students.

Students in the UK MBA in Healthcare may complete the program over two or three years to better accommodate their individual lives and schedules. With the help of dedicated, empathetic faculty, candidates move through courses designed with them in mind, ensuring they reach their individual goals.

Participants complete five specialized courses in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, and Health Service and Systems Organization, qualifying them for the UK Graduate Certificate in Improving Healthcare Value, further differentiating them within their field.

Because we understand the unique demands of our candidates’ lives and careers, our courses meet just once a week. Students are also given the option of attending courses in-person, online, or through a combination of both, adapting their learning journey to their distinct needs.

Fall

During the Fall semester you will take a total of 9 credit hours.

A study of the application of accounting information and services in the recognition or solution of management problems in business.

Analysis of applications of economic theory to management decision making. Such problems as demand and cost determination, pricing, and capital budgeting are treated.

This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of: the role of marketing function in an organization; the types of marketing decisions and analytical procedures involved in making each decision; the overall marketing planning process; and, the impact of the social, economic, and legal environment on marketing decisions.

Spring

During the Fall semester you will take a total of 9 credit hours including 6 credit hours of approved MBA electives.

A study of financial management from the viewpoint of the corporate financial officer. Areas studied include capital budgeting, capital structure, financing decisions, working capital management, dividend policy, and mergers and acquisitions.

A study of key problem formulation and solution procedures in business decision making. The topics studied include statistical techniques integrated in decision making under uncertainty, decision trees, queuing problems, and value of information. A major segment of the course is devoted to the study of linear programming problems, sensitivity analysis, assignment problems, and transportation problems.

A critical examination of behavior and performance within organizations and between organizations. Special attention is paid to the problem of performance at the individual, group, and formal organizational level.

Fall

During the Fall semester you will take a total of 9 credit hours including 3 credit hours of approved MBA electives.

An immersive study of the supply chain management involving the management of key business processes, the flow of goods and information, and relationships with fellow members of the supply chain. Open only to One Year MBA students.

An introduction to the health care delivery system in the United States, including its composition, functioning, the interrelationships of organizations and professional groups within the system in various settings, health care terminology, and major problems and issues in the delivery of health services.

Spring

During the Spring semester you will take a total of 9 credit hours including 6 credit hours of approved MBA electives.

Strategic issues associated with multi-industry, multi-national, multi-business and start-up management; strategy implementation and institutionalization; planning systems.

Fall

During the Fall semester you will take a total of 6 credit hours.

Items to Note

  • To reserve your spot in the program a non-refundable $500 deposit is required and will be applied to the first semester’s tuition.
  • Your tuition will not increase while continuously enrolled, however mandatory fees are subject to change. Please refer to the UK Registrar for the most up to date information on tuition and fees.
  • If electing our online option, a distance learning fee of $10/credit hour will be applied.
  • Course materials will cost approximately $2,500 over the course of the program.
  • Specifics regarding determination of residency status are available from the UK Registrar’s Office Residency Policy.
  • Any fully online courses will be charged the applicable resident tuition rate regardless of residency status.
