Professor Varley's research interests are in empirical topics related to household finance, banking, and real estate. His recent research includes studying how one's mortgage can affect moving decisions; what regulation of hidden fees in mortgages says about their market power; and how banking deregulation affects mortgage lending. He has a PhD in Financial Economics from the University of Chicago and a BA in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Florida.
