Presentation by Dr. Jim Ziliak
The evolution of income inequality in the United States over recent decades has generated intense interest among academics, policymakers, and the wider public. However, the extent to which the American experience has been exceptional compared to other rich countries is less well understood. In his talk, Dr. Jim Ziliak will discuss his multi-year project leading a 17-country team of researchers examining whether labor-market and income inequalities across major European and North American economies are converging or diverging. He will discuss challenges in data harmonization and measurement in making cross-country comparisons, including the roles of demographic change and tax and welfare systems.
