Moffett and Sheehan Published

Ever feel like research is missing the big picture? A lot of experimental studies only scratch the surface, tackling a few variables at a time because of limited resources. Enter the Taguchi approach—a smart, efficient way to dig deeper and test many factors at once. Gatton faculty members Jordan Moffett and Dan Sheehan recently had their paper, "The Taguchi approach to large-scale experimental designs: A powerful and efficient tool for advancing marketing theory and practice" published in the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science.

Lyman T. Johnson Award Recipients Celebrated

The Gatton College of Business and Economics proudly acknowledges Frank C. Parker III and Deborah Burden as recipients of the 2024 Lyman T. Johnson Awards. The awards were presented at the 33rd annual Lyman T. Johnson Awards Luncheon hosted by the University of Kentucky Alumni Association and the UK Office for Community Relations. The luncheon took place on October 11, 2024, at the Gatton Student Center Grand Ballroom. 

Graham Office Wins National Award In Collaboration with the Economic Development Collaborative, the Graham Office of Career Management won a national award of excellence in the talent category of the University Economic Development Association

The University of Kentucky Economic Development Collaborative (EDC) and the Graham Office are proud to announce being named the 2024 University Economic Development Association (UEDA) Award of Excellence winner for the Talent category. This prestigious recognition was presented at the 2024 UEDA Summit held from October 7-9 in South Bend, Indiana. 

Gerken Research Receives Strong Media Attention

Will Gerken presented his research on Tracking SEC Inquiries using Geolocation Data last year at our Gatton Research Excellence Series. One year later, the research is rapidly gaining media attention. In this research, Gerken and his co-authors built a database tracking SEC-associated smartphones to study how they monitor firms. A key finding: firm insiders that sell around a visit avoid large losses.

Eleanor Krause Receives Competitive Early Career Grant from the Washington Center for Equitable Growth.

Eleanor Krause received a competitive Early Career Grant from the Washington Center for Equitable Growth (WCEG). According to the WCEG, these grants are "targeted at those early in their careers whose research is policy-relevant and can inform how policymakers can take action to create more stable, broadly shared U.S.

Stephen Lusch Appointed as an editor at Accounting Horizons

Stephen Lusch has been appointed as an editor at Accounting Horizons. Effective June 1, 2024, Lusch will serve a 3-year term. Accounting Horizons is one of three association-wide journals of the American Accounting Association and is the second most downloaded journal of the AAA's family of seventeen journals.

Carlos Lamarche Paper Accepted and Published

Carlos Lamarche's paper titled "Quantiles of the Gain Distribution of an Early Childhood Intervention" has been accepted and published online by the Journal of Applied Econometrics. This paper is a joint effort with Erich Battistin and Ebruci Rettore. Read the paper here.

Duke Ferguson Paper Accepted

Duke Ferguson's paper, "Raising the Stakes: How Progressive Tax Rates Affect Risk-Taking by Pass-Through Businesses" was accepted for publication in the journal, Contemporary Accounting Research.

Ryessia Russell Selected for Leadership Lexington

Gatton's Director of Honors Pathways, Ryessia Russell, has been selected as one of 50 members of the 2024-2025 Leadership Lexington class. Ryessia's role involves working with some of the brightest students in Gatton, guiding them through their rigorous coursework as honors students.
