Nash Appointed Director of Von Allmen Center for Entrepreneurship

University of Kentucky Gatton College of Business and Economics Dean David W. Blackwell today announced the appointment of Warren O. Nash III as the new executive director of the college's Von Allmen Center for Entrepreneurship.

Four UK Student Entrepreneur Teams Advance to Idea State U Finals

The University of Kentucky’s top four student entrepreneur teams placed in the money at the Idea State U (ISU) regional this past weekend, earning them spots at ISU state finals at the end of April. The undergraduate and graduate students, who presented either a business concept or business plan to a panel of judges, set up a marketing display, produced a 60-second marketing video, and submitted a detailed written concept or plan, won a total $2,250 in cash prizes.

Entrepreneurial Pitch Competition Brings SPARK to UK

The University of Kentucky Von Allmen Center for Entrepreneurship is hosting the SPARK Ignite Pitch Competition for local residents that have an idea and/or technology/product in its early stages. Up to 10 companies/individuals from the Bluegrass region will be selected to make five-minute pitches about their concept to a panel of experienced judges. Cash prizes will be awarded to winners.

Two Seminars for Budding Entrepreneurs Offered This Week

The University of Kentucky Von Allmen Center for Entrepreneurship and the Lexington Office of the Kentucky Innovation Network will be hosting two more events for budding entrepreneurs this February that are open to UK students, faculty and staff.

UK Student Entrepreneurs Take First Place at Georgia Bowl

A team of University of Kentucky students captured first place this past weekend at the Georgia Bowl intercollegiate entrepreneurship competition hosted by Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia. Team Race Assured, comprising Julia Fabiani, an undergraduate student in equine science and physiology, Ben Martin, a graduate student in finance and agricultural economics, and Stefanie Pagano, a graduate student in biomedical engineering earned a $2,500 cash prize for their efforts.

Students Invited to Register Now for the 2016 UK Venture Challenge

Students take their ideas to the next level and gain entrepreneurial experience and contacts at the UK Venture Challenge, Saturday, Feb. 20, William T. Young Library, UK Athletic Association Auditorium. Registration is now open for the annual, university-wide competition.

Two UK Venture Bootcamp Teams Earn Top Awards

Two University of Kentucky teams with an equine focus recently earned top spots in their respective divisions during a local entrepreneurial contest for startup pitches. The competition is part of the Venture Studio Bootcamp in the Von Allmen Center for Entrepreneurship at UK's Gatton College of Business and Economics.

Lexington’s fifth annual Global Entrepreneurship Week kicked off Monday, Nov. 16, evening with the Lexington Venture Club (LVC) announcing that the Central Kentucky entrepreneurial community created 280 new jobs and raised $50.6 million in capital funds in Fiscal Year 2015.

Free Food and Entrepreneurs Go Together at Gatton Oct. 28

Beginning next week, the Von Allmen Center for Entrepreneurship and the Lexington Office of the Kentucky Innovation Network, part of the the University of Kentucky's Gatton College of Business and Economics, will be launching a series of events called the “Entrepreneurship Hour.” This series will include a full hour of local guest entrepreneurs who have firsthand experience with the success and struggles of launching a new start-up venture.
