Causholli Named Editor for Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory

Deloitte Associate Professor of Accounting Monika Causholli has been appointed to serve as editor for Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory.

Causholli Paper to Be Published in The Accounting Review

Monika Causholli's paper co-authored with Gatton PhD student Evisa Bogdani and Robert Knechel (University of Florida) titled "The Role of Assurance in Equity Crowdfunding" has been accepted for publication at The Accounting Review. 

Bratten Presents at Murray State University

On Feb. 26, Brian Bratten presented his paper, "Measurement of Executive Compensation in Mandated SEC Disclosures: Implications for the CEO Pay Ratio," co-authored with Adam Manlove, Casey Schwab, and Bridget Stomberg, at a virtual accounting seminar hosted by Murray State University. 

Causholli Paper Accepted at Accounting, Organizations and Society

Monika Causholli's paper, "The Ties that Bind: Knowledge-Seeking Networks and Auditor Job Performance," co-authored with Theresa Floyd (University of Montana), Nicole Jenkins (University of Virginia), and Scott Soltis was accepted for publication in Accounting, Organizations and Society.

Bogdani Participates at American Accounting Association FARS Meeting

On Jan. 23, 2021, Evisa Bogdani discussed the paper titled, “Does an Audit Office’s Quality Control System Impact Audit Quality? Evidence from Audit Report Errors” by Abbott, Blepp, Marquardt, and Merrell at the Financial Accounting and Reporting Section Virtual Midyear Meeting of the American Accounting Association. She also participated as a moderator at the FARS meeting. Additionally, Bogdani attended and participated in the following events:

Sulcaj presents at 2021 American Accounting Assoc FARS Meeting

On Jan. 22, VASOA Ph.D. candidate Valbona Sulcaj presented the paper, “Litigation Risk, Financial Reporting Quality, and Critical Audit Matters in the Audit Report: Early U.S. Evidence” at the 2021 Financial Accounting and Reporting Section Meeting. The paper is part of her dissertation work under the guidance of Professors Brian Bratten, Monika Causholli (co-chair), Dave Ziebart (co-chair), and Joseph Waddington.

Kleppe to Present at AAA Auditing Section Midyear Meeting

Tyler Kleppe recently received several paper acceptances into competitive, peer-reviewed academic conferences. He will be presenting a solo-authored paper titled, "Auditor Information Spillovers and Company Operating Performance: Evidence from Targeted Auditor Switches" at the AAA Auditing Section Midyear Meeting, the AAA FARS Section Midyear Meeting, and the Hawaii Accounting Research Conference.

Payne Paper Accepted in Journal of Accounting and Public Policy

A paper by KPMG Professor, Jeff L. Payne and Russell Williamson (University of Louisville, former Von Allmen School of Accountancy PhD student) entitled, "An Examination of the Influence of Mutual CFO / Audit Firm Tenure on Audit Quality," has been accepted for publication at The Journal of Accounting and Public Policy.

Brent, Rekhraj Awarded AICPA Scholarships

Congratulations to two University of Kentucky Accounting students, Ariel Q. Brent (left), and Geetika Rakhraj, who received Legacy Scholarships from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).  The two students received the Scholarship Award for Minority Accounting Students for the current academic year. 

Sulcaj Presents at PCAOB/TAR Conference

On October 30, VASOA Ph.D. candidate Valbona Sulcaj presented the paper “Litigation Risk, Financial Reporting Quality, and Critical Audit Matters in the Audit Report: Early U.S. Evidence” at the 2020 PCAOB/TAR Conference on Auditing and Capital Markets. The paper is part of her dissertation work under the guidance of Professors Brian Bratten, Monika Causholli (co-chair), Dave Ziebart (co-chair), and Joseph Waddington.
