Are you looking for experience in planning, conducting, and interpreting research in the fields of business, marketing, psychology, economics, management, accounting, and finance? Are you curious about how individuals and business make decisions, and how these decisions influence individual and firm performance?

If so, you should consider becoming an Undergraduate Research Assistant in Gatton’s Behavioral Research Lab.

As Undergraduate Research Assistants, students participate in an independent study in the Behavioral Research Lab. Each semester Research Assistants learn and apply a variety of research methods in business and the social sciences. 

Some of the goals and objectives of this program include:

Theory and content

Students may become familiar with concepts and theoretical perspectives across various research domains.

Research methods

Students will gain exposure to research methods, experimental design, and data analysis.

Information and Technology Literacy

Students will need to demonstrate competence in basic data management programs such as Excel. Students will also learn analytical techniques using common survey programs such as Qualtrics and Sona.

Values in Marketing and Psychology

Students will be expected to demonstrate ethical values in data management, tolerate ambiguity, and reflect professionalism as they underpin the research being conducted.

Career Planning and Development

Emerge from the major with realistic ideas about how to use knowledge, skills, and values in various occupations and in graduate or occupational schools.
