Are you from Lexington? If not, where?
I was originally born in Ohio, but Lexington is where I grew up and will always be my home.

How did Gatton help prepare you for success?
Gatton, as well as total University of Kentucky experience, gave me the opportunity to meet new people, explore new ideas, appreciate different viewpoints, grow in self-discipline and strengthen the foundation and goals for my own life journey.

What did you love most about your time at Gatton?
The professors! I was blessed with several professors who were truly engaging, inspiring and challenged us to think critically and apply learned principles to the world around us.

How do you manage a healthy work/life balance?
Work is extremely important and rewarding but I am clear on what priorities / values give my life purpose and meaning. I am very fortunate to work for a company that share and support many of my priorities as well as a leader who welcomes open and honest dialog / flexibility about balance. That being said, it is up to you to make it happen. It is important to: 1) make sure the prospective company shares what matters most to you in a work experience and environment 2) articulate and maintain a clear and realistic dialog about what matters most to you in work/life balance 3) exercise reasonable flexibility and patience… everything falls out of balance at times.

What do you love most about your job?
Developing talent and leaders. There is absolutely nothing better than coaching, teaching, training, and challenging team members to achieve more than they knew possible and watch it pay off in career growth, satisfaction, and paying it forward to future leaders.

What characteristic do you value most in friends?
Humility, a great heart, and terrible sense of humor (I love Dad jokes!)

Favorite Lexington attraction?
Keeneland is my favorite place on the planet. The grounds are beautiful, the races are exciting, and it’s where I asked my lovely and amazing wife Amy to marry me (thankfully she said yes!) Another very special memory is that we were recently able to take our children Caroline and Graham, along with our dog Pepper, to Keeneland and they loved it!
