University of Kentucky Gatton College of Business and Economics doctoral student Andrew Jonelis (pictured below) has been selected to attend the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting this August in Germany. Attendance at the sixth meeting for economic sciences will establish Jonelis’ place as one of the leading economists of the next generation.

The University of Kentucky has released its Dean's List for the spring 2017 semester, recognizing students for their outstanding academic performance. To make a Dean’s List in one of the UK colleges, a student must earn a grade point average of 3.6 or higher and must have earned 12 credits or more in that semester, excluding credits earned in pass-fail classes.

There is one lesson University of Kentucky alumnus A.J. Hochhalter has learned in his career as a Lexington-based film producer and composer that sticks out more than anything else.

"You're never going to do anything great when you're comfortable," Hochhalter said.

That philosophy, which he believes began while he was a UK student, launched his career as a music composer.

Last week it was my distinct pleasure to join James Ziliak, Gatton Endowed Chair in Microeconomics and the executive director of the Kentucky Research Data Center (KRDC), for a reception and tour of this new center.

With the KRDC, the University of Kentucky joins an elite group of universities, and is the only one in the East Central region of the country, to be home to a National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded Federal Statistical Research Data Center.

The University of Kentucky Gatton College of Business and Economics Building has been certified as a LEED® Gold building by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). Gatton is the third building at UK to receive a LEED Gold certification.

Surrounded by family, friends and fellow alumni, three exceptional University of Kentucky Gatton College of Business and Economics alumni — Samuel N. Hazen (Nashville, Tennessee), J. Michael Schlotman (Cincinnati, Ohio), and Charles M. Sonsteby (Dallas, Texas) — were inducted into the Gatton College Alumni Hall of Fame last evening (April 20).

The Gatton College Alumni Hall of Fame recognizes Gatton alumni who have earned exceptional success in their careers and in their communities.
