The University of Kentucky Gatton College of Business and Economics Building has been certified as a LEED® Gold building by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). Gatton is the third building at UK to receive a LEED Gold certification.

Surrounded by family, friends and fellow alumni, three exceptional University of Kentucky Gatton College of Business and Economics alumni — Samuel N. Hazen (Nashville, Tennessee), J. Michael Schlotman (Cincinnati, Ohio), and Charles M. Sonsteby (Dallas, Texas) — were inducted into the Gatton College Alumni Hall of Fame last evening (April 20).

The Gatton College Alumni Hall of Fame recognizes Gatton alumni who have earned exceptional success in their careers and in their communities.

t's clear that UK football wide receiver Charles Walker is guided by an unbridled work ethic. After beginning his college career as a walk-on, the Louisville native earned a scholarship last fall. 

"I felt like I had the chip on my shoulder to come in and work a little bit harder than the next person," Walker said. 

But that work ethic doesn’t end on the football field. Walker is currently working towards a double major in finance and marketing in the Gatton College of Business and Economics, earning multiple spots on the SEC Academic Honor Roll along the way.

New research by Adam W. Craig, assistant professor of marketing in University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics, finds new parallels between idealized body images in advertising and consumer spending.

Craig, along with co-author Marisabel Romero (Colorado State University), will have their article published in the June 2017 issue of Journal of Consumer Research. According to the study, “Costly Curves: How Human-like Shapes Can Increase Spending,” even subtle reminders of idealized bodies can encourage overweight consumers to overspend.
