The University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics invites nominations from college alumni and community members for the inaugural Gatton College Teaching Excellence Award.
The award honors Gatton teachers who inspire passion for their discipline, are especially innovative in the classroom, help students think critically and creatively about business problems, and help students engage with the local community.

Jon Wuerzburger knew since the age of eight that he wanted to serve in the United States Air Force. But he also aspired to one day become a Wildcat because of family ties back in Kentucky. Aaron Garvey, assistant professor of marketing in the Gatton College, is finding new ways that branding and marketing affect consumer behavior. One of his recent research studies reveals that brands of sports equipment can improve human performance through purely psychological means that are unrelated to functional differences in a branded product’s materials, craftsmanship, or design.

Paige A. Dauparas, a Gatton College accounting senior from Mokena, Illinois, has been selected to present the 23rd annual Edward T. Breathitt Undergraduate Lectureship in the Humanities at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, in the UK Athletics Auditorium at William T. Young Library. Dauparas' free public lecture focuses on diversity and how the search for individuality impacts unity. She is also majoring in English and Spanish literature and culture.
