Our MBA program has partnered with a number of University of Kentucky degree programs to develop and offer Dual Degree programs that enable select UK students to gain valuable business knowledge and skillsets that augment their primary degree in an accelerated and cost-effective manner.

Overview

Our Dual Engineering MBA program beckons adventurous minds like yours to embark on an extraordinary academic journey. This program is a unique opportunity for UK College of Engineering students to earn their MBA degree in one-year, post-graduation and gain international experience. Through generous donations from successful alumni, up to fifteen candidates are selected yearly and receive a $25,000 scholarship towards their MBA tuition along with approximately $5,000 towards our study abroad experience.

Typically, our Dual Engineering MBA candidates will use the MBA degree in one of two ways:

  1. To accelerate their career in engineering, helping them be more effective in the workplace and move into management or project management faster.
  2. Explore new career options, such as analytics, consulting, finance, or supply chain.

Structure

Our Dual Engineering MBA candidates accepted will be members of our Full Time One-Year MBA program. Please find more details on our program structure and curriculum here.

Our Dual Degree engineering students will also participate in a study abroad experience after graduating from our MBA program, typically within the week after graduating. The study abroad experience includes visiting two different countries and is intended to provide business, engineering, and cultural exposure within those countries. The study abroad experience is approximately 12 days in duration.

Our JD/MBA Dual Degree program allows UK Juris Doctorate candidates to earn their MBA degree in parallel while earning their JD degree in three years, at a significant tuition discount.

Program Schedule

Juris Doctorate (JD) candidates interested in pursuing our JD MBA Dual Degree program have two options:

  1. Participate in our Full Time MBA, for a more immersive MBA experience in conjunction with their law education.
  2. Participate in our Part Time MBA, for a more flexible MBA experience in conjunction with their law education.

Option 1: Our Full Time MBA program consists of 51 Credit Hours in total. For our JD MBA Dual Degree, 38 credit hours will be earned in our MBA program and 13 credit hours will be shared with the JD degree. The following schedule is the typical cadence of courses for our JD MBA dual degree candidates. The year corresponds with our MBA program, accepted JD candidates start our MBA program after their first year of their law school.

For our JD MBA Dual Degree, 27 credit hours will be earned in our MBA program and 9 credit hours will be shared with the JD degree. Our Part Time MBA courses are offered weekday evenings, from 6-8:30 p.m. The year corresponds with our MBA program, accepted JD candidates start our MBA program after their first year of their law school.

The courses listed during the summer are offered during weekday, the courses listed during the Fall and Spring semesters are offered weekday evenings from 6-8:30 p.m. The year corresponds with our MBA program, accepted DMD candidates start our MBA program the summer after year 2 of their DMD program.
