Katelyn Mentzer

Kate Mentzer is graduating in May of 2021 from the One Year MBA program at the University of Kentucky's Gatton College of Business and Economics. Upon graduation, Kate will be joining World Wide Technology (WWT) as an Associate Project Manager which is part of their Project Management development program.

"I've dreamed of working for WWT since my Junior year of undergrad," says Kate. "I went on a tour of one of their facilities and fell in love with the culture and business."

World Wide Technology, privately owned and headquartered in St. Louis, MO., is a technology solutions company that works with clients to develop innovative and specialized solutions to unique business problems.

"In their Project Manager development program, I'll get to work with experienced project managers on real projects in preparation to become a project manager," says Kate. "This is exciting because WWT gets to work with some very well-known companies to develop solutions."

After graduating in 2019 with her bachelor's degree in Business Management and Entrepreneurship from Southern Illinois University, Kate enrolled in Gatton's full-time One Year MBA program designed for young professionals, recent graduates and emerging leaders.

Kate says, "I knew I wanted to get my masters after finishing undergrad. I felt that to be successful as a business professional, I needed to pursue an MBA."

The One Year MBA offers a cross-disciplinary curriculum along with customizable electives, giving candidates the versatility and specialized skills to advance and lead in a myriad of leadership opportunities. Candidates also receive experiential learning through the Project Connect internship along with many team-based projects and simulations.

"The ability to be successful while working on a cross-functional team definitely set me apart as a candidate for WWT," says Kate. "Not all recent graduates have experience in leading cross-functional teams or working on real-world consulting projects with recognizable companies. I received both in the UK MBA."
