A team of undergraduate students from the University of Kentucky's Gatton College of Business and Economics earned second place in the nation this past weekend at the 2016 Wall Street Journal Business Challenge. The competition was hosted by the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University in College Station.

Jim Ziliak and 2013 PhD alum Sarah Burns had their paper "Identifying the Elasticity of Taxable Income" accepted for publication in The Economic Journal.

Rob Hartley, a 3rd year PhD student, was accepted to participate in the 3rd Summer School on Socioeconomic Inequality - Chicago 2015. The program focuses on new methods of inequality research to address interdisciplinary insights of human behavior through economic models. This research forum is hosted by the Human Capital and Economic Opportunity Global Working Group led by Nobel Laureate James J. Heckman, Steven N. Durlauf, and Robert H. Dugger.

The University of Kentucky Von Allmen Center for Entrepreneurship and the Lexington Office of the Kentucky Innovation Network will be hosting two more events for budding entrepreneurs this February that are open to UK students, faculty and staff.

Through a partnership formed between Commerce Lexington Inc. and the University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics, a scholarship in the amount of $15,000 will be available to a Commerce Lexington member to help eliminate a portion of the cost of the UK/UofL Executive MBA program, beginning in August 2016.

One of the University of Kentucky's distinguished graduates will address students, faculty and staff at the Gatton College of Business and Economics Friday morning, Feb. 5.

James W. Stuckert, retired chairman and CEO of Hilliard Lyons, will speak at 10 a.m. in Woodward Hall (Room 307) in the new Gatton College building. Stuckert's appearance is presented by the Economics Society at UK.

On January 30-31, the University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics will host Wall Street Prep’s Financial & Valuation Modeling Seminar for the second time. In October, the college welcomed more than 60 registered students to the first seminar, led by former investment banker and native Kentuckian, Brad Barlow.

The competition is part of the Venture Studio Bootcamp in the Von Allmen Center for Entrepreneurship at UK's Gatton College of Business and Economics.
