Two Seminars for Budding Entrepreneurs Offered This Week

The University of Kentucky Von Allmen Center for Entrepreneurship and the Lexington Office of the Kentucky Innovation Network will be hosting two more events for budding entrepreneurs this February that are open to UK students, faculty and staff.

Want to learn more about how an idea in a lab becomes a product on the market? Bruce Webb, founder of Paratechs Lab and UK professor of virology and molecular genetics, will be sharing his wisdom about the bench to business process. Whether you are interested in science or business (or both), this will be an informative seminar. There will be an optional tour of the lab following the presentation. The Bench to Business seminar will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, at the Venture Studio in Gatton Building room 124. Individuals interested in attending can register for this event here.

The Venture Studio is also proud to host Fausto Sarmineto, consultant for the Kentucky Small Business Development Center, to discuss the process of developing and growing a small business in Lexington. The Small Business Seminar will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at the Venture Studio in Gatton Building room 124. The Venture Studio will provide lunch. Individuals can register for this event here.

The mission of The Von Allmen Center for Entrepreneurship and Lexington Innovation and Commercialization Center accelerates the Kentucky economy by commercializing UK research, facilitating university-industry collaborations, and assisting entrepreneurs and small businesses in creating jobs.
