LeadHER Women Executives welcome Kim Davis: ‘Pioneering the Path of Black Excellence in the World of Hockey’

In commemoration of Black History Month, the Gatton College of Business and Economics, in partnership with the Gatton student organization, LeadHer Women Executives Club, is hosting “Pioneering the Path, Celebrating Black History in Hockey” on Friday, February 23.

The event will begin with a viewing of the documentary "Soul On Ice: Past, Present, & Future," directed by Damon Kwame Mason, and will offer a Q&A session with the filmmaker.

Following the discussion, participants can attend a luncheon and keynote session featuring Kim Davis, senior executive vice president of the National Hockey League (NHL).

The event will conclude with the presentation of a new award to Davis titled, “Pioneering the Path.”

Ateba Whitaker, management lecturer and LeadHer advisor, highlights the profound significance of the event and shares, “This event is carefully crafted to illuminate a path — paying homage to Black History Month and recognizing Davis for her dedication to fostering inclusivity within the realm of hockey. The ‘Pioneering the Path’ award acknowledges her exceptional social impact in the world of hockey and beyond. This is more than just an event; it embodies our unwavering commitment at Gatton to diversity, equity and inclusion.”

“LeadHER is thrilled to honor Davis with the ‘Pioneering the Path’ award in recognition of her exceptional tenure as the executive vice president of the NHL,” Kaylin Wiley, co-CEO of LeadHER, added. “Her journey stands as a compelling testament, not only to inspiring women, but individuals across the globe.”
