The Professional MBA program is a diverse network of working professionals and executives from various industries such as engineering, law, healthcare, agriculture, transportation, manufacturing, technology, banking/finance, government and military. Many of our candidates are interested advancing in their current careers, switching careers, pursuing managerial, technical and leadership roles, or entrepreneurship. Offered in two-year and three-year plans of study with dual degree options available for certain candidates, students can bring their daily work responsibilities into the classroom and then immediately apply what they've learned in the workplace. Real-Time, Online Option
The new Real-Time, Online option offers candidates the opportunity to attend classes in person (traditional), online from any location (distance learning), or a combination of both (blended). This experience delivers a live classroom environment allowing students to learn, connect and participate in a virtual space with faculty, classmates and project teams. This real-time, online option will launch in the Fall of 2019.
Admissions & Preparatory Courses
Submitted applications are considered on a rolling admissions cycle, so it's strongly recommended to apply early into the program. The Professional MBA offers two class starts each year in August (Fall semester) and January (Spring semester). Certifications & Concentration
MBA students at the University of Kentucky can earn value-added professional certifications in Project Management, Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma and Global Commerce and Strategy. Candidates also have the opportunity to take entrepreneurship electives or obtain the full concentration in Entrepreneurship and New Venture Creation.
Coupled with the Professional MBA, the Gatton College of Business and Economics has partnered with the Colleges of Law and Pharmacy at the University of Kentucky to offer unique dual degree programs which allow graduates to pursue highly specialized, multifaceted employment opportunities.

Designed around the busy schedule of the working professional, the part-time Professional MBA curriculum is offered in two different tracks: a two-year plan of study or a three-year plan of study with all classes meeting just once a week in the evenings from 6:00pm – 8:30pm (EST). Students have the option of participating in the classroom, online in real time or a combination of both. The Professional MBA is 36 credits, which consists of 9 core business classes (27 credits) and three electives (9 credits). Students who withdraw from the program are subject to the Fee Liability Policy as stated on the University of Kentucky Registrar's page. The University Fee Liability Policy is published in the Schedule of Classes and the University Bulletin. Under this policy, students who officially withdraw from the University by canceling his or her registration via myUK or in writing through the Registrar’s Office or withdraws from a course before the first day of the semester as designated in the official University Calendar is entitled to a full refund of registration fees paid or to cancellation of the amount owed for the term.
